COMPETITIVE BOXING
Any person wishing to box
in competitions or exhibitions must first follow the program as listed below. This
involves a fitness evaluation at Physiomed Fitness and then becoming enrolled in the
Hamilton Boxing Club program. After working through the club's program, the athlete
and coach Brodie Boone decide together when it is time to begin sparring practice in
addition to the workout program. Below is the sparring schedule (subject to change).

In
order to begin sparring (which leads to actual exhibitions or bouts as the athletes
progression dictates), after the coach and athlete agree it is time to begin, the athlete
must complete a few more steps. First off is an Ontario
Boxing Association approved medical to be completed by the athlete's family doctor.
Once that is complete, the athlete must submit the medical, proof of age, two clear
pictures, and an annual fee of $50.00 to the OBA office. Once the athlete is
approved, they are now ready to begin participation in full contact sparring practice.
When Coach Boone feels the athlete is ready to compete, a suitable opponent will
then be sought for the boxer to begin their amateur boxing career.
Should you have any
questions at all in regard to the program, feel free to contact our Head Coach Brodie
Boone by emailing him at brodieboone@hamiltonboxingclub.com
